Evelin Fernanda Coria-Coronado, a 2-year-old girl, was last seen on September 7, 2014, in Canton, Mississippi, along with her three sisters: Mendy, Jackelyn, and Kimberly. The children were allegedly abducted by their non-custodial mother, Sonia Elisabeth Coronado, and stepfather, Fernando Pelayo Coria. Prior to the abduction, both Sonia and Fernando had been arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect after severe signs of mistreatment were discovered on the children. Although Sonia had agreed to testify against Fernando, the two disappeared with the children shortly after being granted temporary custody.
Felony kidnapping warrants were issued for Sonia and Fernando on September 12, 2014. Authorities believe that the family may have fled to Mexico, as Fernando is originally from Mexico and Sonia from Guatemala. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement, including the Canton Police Department, the whereabouts of the girls remain unknown, and the case is still unsolved.
