Wayne Jason Ausa, a 16-year-old boy from Vallejo, California, was last seen on April 16, 2016, at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Wayne and his classmate, Grisham Duran, were with a group of friends when they entered the water. The boys were standing in waist-deep water, linked arm-in-arm, when a strong wave and current knocked them apart. While three of the boys managed to return to shore, both Wayne and Grisham were swept out to sea and have not been seen since.
The Coast Guard conducted an extensive search, but the efforts were called off after several hours without finding the boys. Wayne and Grisham are presumed drowned, and their bodies have never been recovered, likely carried far offshore. At the time of his disappearance, Wayne was a student at Vallejo High School, where he was enrolled in the Engineering Academy and participated in the school choir.
