In the spring of 2016, a 42-year-old United States Marine Corps veteran named David Karl Heitman vanished from his home in Columbia, Missouri. The last confirmed contact with him was on April 19, 2016, when he spoke with his social worker. During that conversation, he reportedly mentioned plans to go to the lake with a friend.
