Elvira Rivera Babb, aged 57, was last seen on June 29, 2016, in Vallejo, California, when a coworker dropped her off at a local fish market. The following day, on June 30, her son received a text message demanding $60,000 for her safe return, threatening to kill her if the ransom was not paid. Initially, her son thought the message was a prank, but when he went to check her home, he found her Chihuahua dead and Elvira missing, with no signs of forced entry.
