In the summer of 2016, 64-year-old Russell James Boyle vanished from his home in Alton, a small town in Oregon County, Missouri. The exact date of his disappearance remains uncertain, with estimates placing it sometime between the 4th and 18th of July. His son, Jeremy, reported him missing on July 25, 2016, after not having seen him for approximately five weeks.
