Rosalyn Saxsenmeier, a 71-year-old woman, was last seen on July 28, 2016, in Bear Valley, California. She disappeared while on a short walk at the Silver Valley Campground near Lake Alpine around 2:00 p.m., carrying only a flashlight. Despite extensive search efforts by multiple agencies, including search and rescue teams and K-9 units, she was never found. Rosalyn, who was familiar with the area and in good health, had previously gotten lost on a solo hike just a month before her disappearance, which raised concerns.
At the time of her disappearance, Rosalyn was wearing a yellow or blue short-sleeved shirt, blue shorts, and canvas sneakers. She was described as 5 feet tall, weighing around 125 pounds, and wearing wire-rimmed reading glasses. Though there were no medical issues reported, she may have had age-related memory problems that could have caused disorientation. Despite the ongoing search efforts, including the use of helicopters and night-vision equipment, no traces of her were found, and her case remains unsolved.
