Leonard Bernard Branzuela, a 32-year-old man from San Francisco, was last seen on June 26, 1993. Branzuela, a high school wrestling coach and former championship wrestler who nearly qualified for the 1988 Olympics, disappeared under circumstances that led authorities to believe he took his own life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. On the day of his disappearance, Branzuela visited his mother's apartment after getting a haircut but found she was not home.
He waited for her at a nearby Mexican restaurant but left later in the day, taking a bus to the Marina Green, a popular spot near the Golden Gate Bridge.
Branzuela's wallet, containing a list of phone numbers, was discovered on the bridge's sidewalk, and a witness reported seeing a body in the water. However, despite searches, his remains were never recovered, and the case remains open as a missing person case. His family was notified 18 days later, prompting his mother, Maria Martinez, to file a lawsuit against the bridge's management, claiming negligence for not having suicide prevention barriers.
