In the quiet community of Las Vegas, Nevada, 72-year-old Neva Jane Lindley, who often went by her middle name, Jane, was preparing for a new chapter in her life in late 2011. She had recently met a man online and was planning to travel with him in an RV. In anticipation of this new adventure, family members saw her cashing out her financial assets. However, her excitement and plans would soon be overshadowed by a sudden and mysterious disappearance.
The last time she was seen was in December of that year, and then, without a trace, she was gone.
The years that followed were filled with silence and uncertainty for Neva's loved ones. It wasn't until an investigation into the disappearance of another woman, Nancy Hartz, that a potential lead in Neva's case emerged. Authorities began looking into a man named Robert Lawson Carnochan, a conman who used multiple aliases. Carnochan had been the last person seen with Hartz, and as investigators delved deeper, they uncovered a disturbing pattern. Evidence found in Carnochan's home linked him not only to the disappearance of Nancy Hartz but also to Neva Lindley and another woman, Verna Clayton, who had been missing since 2008.
The investigation revealed that all three women, who lived within a hundred-mile radius of each other, had met Carnochan through online dating sites before they vanished. A grim discovery was made in May 2019 when Nancy Hartz's remains were found in a remote desert area near Topock, Arizona. In 2016, Carnochan was arrested on charges of fraud, theft, and forgery and was subsequently convicted and sentenced to sixteen years in prison. Before he could be charged in connection with the disappearances of Neva Lindley and Verna Clayton, Robert Carnochan died in prison in September 2020. While he was the primary suspect in all three cases, Neva Lindley's case officially remains an endangered missing person case under the investigation of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, as she has never been located and is presumed to have been a victim of foul play.Last Seen: Dec 1, 2011
