On a tumultuous autumn day in Marquette, Michigan, 37-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Hall was caught in a tragic incident that would leave her loved ones with unending questions. On October 24, 2017, a violent storm churned the waters of Lake Superior into a frenzy, with waves reaching astonishing heights. Despite the dangerous conditions and the closure of Presque Isle Park to visitors, Sarah and a friend, 53-year-old Robert Anderson, were near the Black Rocks area. It was there that the immense power of the lake tragically swept both of them from the rocks and into the turbulent water. Another individual who was also pulled into the lake by the waves was fortunately rescued, but Sarah and Robert were carried away by the treacherous currents. Immediate search and rescue efforts were launched by the Marquette Police and Fire Departments, but the severe weather, including strong winds and waves reported to be as high as 25 feet, made it impossible for divers to enter the water. A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched from Traverse City and searched the area for approximately three hours, but found no sign of Sarah or Robert. The perilous conditions ultimately led to the suspension of the active search. Tragically, about a month after the incident, Robert Anderson's body was discovered floating in Lake Superior. Despite extensive searches involving divers and an underwater vehicle, Sarah Hall has never been found. Sarah was a mother of four children and is remembered as someone who enjoyed photography, animals, and the outdoors. She was known for her warm hugs and bright smile. Physically, Sarah is described as a white female with brown hair and green eyes, standing at 5'7" and weighing around 200 pounds. She has a distinctive one-inch cross tattoo on her left shoulder and a pin in her right knee. Although the official search efforts have long since concluded, Sarah Elizabeth Hall remains missing. The circumstances of that day point to the heartbreaking conclusion that she was a victim of the lake's immense power. Her case serves as a somber reminder of the unforgiving nature of the Great Lakes and the profound loss experienced by those left behind when a loved one vanishes without a trace.
