Mary Ann Waite, a 25-year-old woman from Brockton, Massachusetts, was last seen on June 1, 1971. On the morning of her disappearance, she left a note for her family stating she was going out to buy milk and bread but never returned. At the time, she was married and the mother of four children, the oldest of whom was 10 years old. Her sudden and unexplained disappearance left her family and authorities puzzled.
