Sandra June Horwath, a 33-year-old mother of three, was last seen on the night of October 1, 1973, at her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. That evening, she put her children to bed at around 10:00 p.m., but by the next morning, when her children awoke, she was gone. Sandra failed to show up for work at the University of Michigan Hospital, where she was employed, and her absence raised immediate concerns.
