Henry Horner, aged 69, went missing on August 18, 2000, after a small chartered aircraft he was aboard crashed into the ocean off Kennebunkport, Maine. The plane was en route from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Nova Scotia when the engine malfunctioned at an altitude of 9,000 feet. After a loud bang from the engine compartment, the pilot was forced to ditch the aircraft in the sea. Although the pilot and another passenger survived, Horner and one other person were not found.
