Ian Cox, a 29-year-old experienced climber, went missing on August 20, 2022, while on a solo expedition in the North Cascades, specifically along the West McMillan Spire on the Mount Degenhardt Summit Loop Trail, just north of Diablo Lake. Ian, a passionate mountaineer who had completed numerous ascents of major peaks in Washington, failed to return from his climb, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation.
