On January 3, 2018, Justin Lee Holt, a 35-year-old father of five, disappeared from the area of Twin Lake, Michigan. He was last seen near Bayne Street and Maple Island Road and had plans to contact his brother the following day, a call he would never make. Concerned when their calls to Justin went directly to voicemail, his family requested a welfare check at his home in Cedar Creek Township. Responding deputies from the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office found a quiet but unsettling scene. The back door to his residence was unlocked, as was his truck which was parked in the driveway. Inside the home, crucial personal belongings were discovered, including his coat, shoes, and cigarettes, items his family said he would not typically leave behind. However, his wallet, keys, and phone were missing. The initial investigation into Justin's disappearance uncovered several troubling clues. A few drops of blood, later confirmed to be Justin's, were found in the snow in his driveway. Cadaver dogs were brought to the scene but did not detect the scent of human remains. Investigators noted that his phone had been turned off since he went missing, and there had been no activity on his credit cards. The last known ping from his cell phone was near his home on the night he vanished. At the time of his disappearance, Holt was actively seeking custody of his five children. It was reported that his ex-wife's partner had made threats against his life, but law enforcement determined the individual was in Louisiana when Justin went missing and ruled him out as a suspect. Family members discovered a set of footprints in the snow leading from his house toward nearby Clear Lake, but extensive searches of the lake, including the use of divers and side-scan sonar, yielded no clues. Despite the years that have passed, the search for answers continues. Justin Holt is described as a white male, standing 6'2" and weighing around 220 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He has distinctive tattoos: the name "Janalee" on the inside of his left forearm and his wedding vows on his right shoulder. He wore prescription glasses and often wore a kangol or fedora-style hat. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and his case is an active investigation with the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, leaving his family with lingering questions and a profound sense of loss.
