In the small town of Iron River, Michigan, the summer of 1974 was marked by the troubling disappearance of 25-year-old Calvin Michael Anderson. On the afternoon of June 17th, Anderson was seen leaving a residence around 1:30 p.m. and was never heard from again. At the time he went missing, he was with a man named Richard Kyllonen, who was once a close friend. The circumstances leading up to that day were fraught with personal conflict and legal entanglements, painting a grim picture of his final known hours. Anderson was last seen wearing a red and green plaid shirt, faded Levi's, and high-top leather boots. The relationship between Anderson and Kyllonen had soured in the time leading up to Anderson's disappearance. Tensions escalated when Anderson and his wife separated, and Kyllonen subsequently moved in with her. Adding another layer of complexity to their fractured friendship, Anderson had made a pivotal decision to testify against Kyllonen in connection with a 1971 arson case in which both men were allegedly involved.
