Adagio Talifero, a 14-year-old boy, was last seen on June 7, 2018, when he and his father, Gerald "Storm" Talifero, set sail from Goleta Beach, California, bound for Hawaii. The two were reportedly planning to make a brief stop in San Diego before continuing their journey, but they never arrived in Hawaii, and no further contact was made with them. The father and son had purchased plane tickets to return to California on September 1, 2018, but they did not board their flight.
In July 2018, Gerald's remains were found washed ashore near Goleta Beach, close to where they had initially set sail. His remains were only positively identified in 2021. Despite extensive searches, Adagio's whereabouts remain unknown, and it is feared that both he and his father may have perished at sea. However, the search for Adagio continues, and authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are involved in the investigation, with age-progressed images of Adagio being shared to aid in the search.
