On July 1, 2018, 40-year-old Bellamy Gamboa, a mother of four, vanished from her Virginia Beach, Virginia, apartment in the Diamond Springs area. She was reportedly last seen at her home on the evening of July 1st. Concern grew when she failed to appear for her scheduled shift at work the following day. Attempts to contact her were unsuccessful as her cell phone was no longer in service. The disappearance was considered uncharacteristic of Gamboa, who was described by her family as a devoted mother. Two days after she was last seen, Bellamy’s 2015 gold four-door Ford Focus was discovered abandoned. The vehicle was found parked next to a dumpster in the 5800 block of Pickering Street in Virginia Beach, several miles from her home. The discovery of her car did little to illuminate her whereabouts and only deepened the mystery surrounding her sudden disappearance. The Virginia Beach Police Department opened an investigation, and the circumstances were deemed suspicious by authorities. Her ex-boyfriend, with whom she had two children, was identified by family as someone she had a tumultuous relationship with. Regrettably, Bellamy Gamboa was located deceased. The investigation into her disappearance led to the arrest of her ex-boyfriend, Lamont Johnson. Johnson was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death. This case, which began as a missing person report, concluded with a tragic discovery and a homicide investigation, leaving a family to mourn the loss of a beloved mother. The focus of the case shifted from a search for a missing woman to a pursuit of justice for her death.
