Terry Meador, a 74-year-old avid hunter from Rock Springs, Wyoming, was last heard from on October 19, 2018. He was believed to be scouting for a hunting spot in the Pine Mountain area, an area he knew well. His family reported him missing after he failed to return home, which was unusual for him, as he typically stayed in touch even when his phone died. His 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck was found abandoned, stuck in a rut about two miles from the summit of Pine Mountain.
Inside the truck, searchers found his hunting equipment, including a rifle, binoculars, and a small cooler, but no sign of Terry.
Tracks believed to be his were spotted leading away from the truck for about a mile before disappearing. A partially smoked cigarette matching the brand Terry smoked was also found nearby. Despite extensive searches by volunteers, law enforcement, and aerial units, no trace of him has been found.
Terry had a history of bipolar disorder but was reportedly stable and taking his medication at the time of his disappearance. His family does not believe he was suicidal, though his truck getting stuck may have caused anxiety.
