On the cold Sunday morning of January 27, 1974, in Hammond, Indiana, 11-year-old Joseph Andrew Spisak diligently completed his paper route for the Hammond Times. After finishing his deliveries, he returned to his home in the 7000 block of McCook Avenue to drop off his empty newspaper bag.
