On May 18, 1978, 45-year-old Phillip Farris disappeared under tragic circumstances while on a fishing trip with his son, John, near Phippsburg, Maine. The two had taken a small dory out from the Phippsburg Boat Landing to reach a larger fishing vessel. However, their boat capsized during the journey.
