On a spring morning in Haskell, Oklahoma, the three children of Kassaundra Denise Williams Patterson awoke to find their mother gone. It was May 5, 1988, and the 33-year-old woman had vanished from their home at the Silver Leaf Apartments, leaving all of her personal belongings, including her purse, behind. It was considered highly uncharacteristic of her to leave without her purse, and especially to leave her children. Kassaundra, an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, was of Black and Native American heritage with black hair and brown eyes. The circumstances surrounding Kassaundra's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery, with very few details available to provide a clear picture of what might have happened. There were no signs of a struggle or forced entry at her apartment. A poignant and mysterious event occurred on Mother's Day in 1989 when Kassaundra's mother received a phone call. The caller hung up immediately, and their identity was never confirmed, leaving a lingering question as to whether it could have been Kassaundra. Some accounts mention that the caller may have said "Momma. Mom," before the line went dead. This, however, has not been definitively substantiated. Decades have passed since Kassaundra Williams Patterson was last seen, and her case has grown cold. Her family has endured years of uncertainty, holding on to the hope of one day finding answers. The investigation, led by the Haskell Police Department, has yielded few leads over the years. The lack of evidence and the passage of time have made the search for Kassaundra incredibly challenging. Despite the difficulties, her case remains open, a somber reminder of a mother who seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving behind a family to grapple with her unexplained absence. The overview of the case is one of a sudden and perplexing disappearance with no clear evidence of foul play, yet the circumstances are highly uncharacteristic of her known behavior, leaving her family and investigators with more questions than answers.
