On a December day in 2010, 50-year-old Michael Van Gist told his live-in girlfriend in Collinsville, Illinois, that he would be back in five minutes. He then left their home and has not been seen or heard from since. It is unclear what day this occurred, as his girlfriend did not report him missing for three weeks.
