Michael Van Gist, 50 years old at the time, was last seen on December 15, 2010, in Collinsville, Illinois. On the day of his disappearance, Gist told his live-in girlfriend that he would be back in five minutes. However, after leaving, he never returned. His girlfriend reported him missing three weeks later when there had still been no sign of him.
