The night of Thanksgiving in 2013 brought not a sense of peace, but the beginning of a lasting mystery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the late hours of November 28th, 28-year-old Luis Lopez-Gomez found himself in a police pursuit with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The chase came to an end in Mohawk Park, a sprawling area known for its natural terrain. It was there that Luis exited his vehicle and fled on foot, disappearing into the park's darkness. He has not been seen or heard from since that holiday evening. Authorities at the time expressed a belief that he may have tragically fallen into Bird Creek, a waterway that winds through the park. Luis Lopez-Gomez is a Hispanic male, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 170 and 175 pounds at the time of his disappearance. He has brown hair and brown eyes. His family and authorities have a detailed description of his many distinguishing physical features, which they hoped would aid in his identification. He has several scars, including ones on his forehead, the back of his right leg, his left hand, and on both of his arms. He is also heavily tattooed, with the name "Lopez" on his right arm, three dots on his left hand, an angel on his left leg, and the name "Joseangel Perlay" on his neck. Additionally, he has a tattoo of a cross on his right hand and praying hands on his left arm. The clothing he was wearing on the night he vanished is unknown. The silence that followed Luis's disappearance has been a source of deep concern for his loved ones. It was noted that whenever Luis had been incarcerated in the past, he would always make a point to call his mother. However, since the night he fled into Mohawk Park, there has been a complete and uncharacteristic lack of communication, deepening the mystery of his whereabouts. The case presents a difficult scenario for investigators; a man last seen in flight, who vanished into a large park with a significant water feature. The prevailing theory remains that he may have had an accident in Bird Creek, but with no recovery, his case is an unresolved and open investigation with the Tulsa Police Department.
