Daniel Octavio Gallardo Jr., a 19-year-old from Barstow, California, was last seen on October 28, 2015. He had recently moved to Truckee, California, for a job at a landscaping company, Rock & Rose Inc. Before starting the job, Daniel stayed with his cousin in Reno, Nevada, which was about 30 miles from his new workplace. On the morning of October 28, he left for his first day of work but never arrived. The last known contact with Daniel occurred when he used his debit card at a Chevron gas station in Truckee at 1:45 p.m. and made a phone call to his girlfriend around 2:00 p.m.
Daniel's family became concerned when they were unable to reach him, and he was reported missing the following day. Nearly a year later, on October 5, 2016, his car, a white 2012 Nissan Altima, was found abandoned in a remote forest area approximately 40 miles north of Truckee. Despite this discovery, there has been no trace of Daniel. Investigators conducted searches around the location where the car was found, but they uncovered no additional clues.
While authorities have not found direct evidence of foul play, Daniel's disappearance is considered suspicious due to the circumstances. His family continues to search for answers, and the case remains open and unsolved. Investigations are ongoing by the Truckee, Barstow, and Reno police departments.
