Thomas Freeman, a 26-year-old from Ohio, was last seen on June 29, 2017, while backpacking in South America. He had contacted his family from Capurganá, Colombia, and mentioned his plans to cross into Panama and continue his journey toward the United States. Border officials confirmed that he entered Panama at Puerto Obaldia on June 30, 2017. Thomas, an experienced backpacker and hiker, was known for his love of travel and the outdoors.
