Jonathan Paul Estes, a 35-year-old man from Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, was last seen on June 2, 2018. Prior to his disappearance, Jonathan had a domestic dispute with his estranged wife, Cynthia, on May 31, 2018. She alleged that he assaulted her, and shortly after, police attempted to question Jonathan. However, by the time they arrived, he had already vanished. His truck was later found abandoned near his former home, but no sign of him was found, and he has not been heard from since.
Despite initial reluctance by local authorities to file a missing persons report—due to the outstanding domestic charges—Jonathan’s sister filed a report in September 2018. By October, a grand jury declined to indict him on the domestic violence charges, citing a lack of evidence. During this period, Cynthia filed for divorce, which was finalized in January 2019. Jonathan's family has expressed doubt that he would have voluntarily abandoned his children, noting that he was deeply involved in their lives and had been paying child support up until his disappearance.
The case remains open, with both the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation working to uncover new leads. No foul play has been confirmed, but investigators are keeping all possibilities open as they continue their search.
