Aranda Briones, a 16-year-old from Moreno Valley, California, was last seen on January 13, 2019. That day, she was with her friend Owen Skyler Shover, who later claimed to have dropped her off at Moreno Valley Community Park between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. However, surveillance footage did not show her presence at the park, and she has not been heard from since.

The case took a tragic turn when, in February 2019, Owen and his older brother, Gary Shover, were arrested. Owen was charged with murder, and Gary was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation revealed evidence suggesting Aranda’s murder was premeditated. Owen had reportedly been trying to purchase a firearm months before her disappearance. Phone records indicated suspicious activity involving both brothers on the day Aranda vanished, and blood evidence was later found in Owen's car.

Although both brothers initially pleaded not guilty, Gary later accepted a plea deal in 2024, pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact. Owen, however, went to trial and was found guilty of first-degree murder. Despite these developments, Aranda’s body has never been found.
