In the immediate aftermath of John's disappearance, investigators attempted to trace his movements through his cell phone. Although the phone was turned off, a signal was detected near 8219 Niagara River Parkway in Ontario, Canada. This location is situated across the border from where John was last seen, raising questions about whether he had crossed into Canada.
