Anthony J. Cavet, a 71-year-old retired railroad worker, lived a secluded life on a sprawling property in the northwestern part of East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. Known for his hermit-like lifestyle, Cavet shared his land with goats, dogs, and cats, which he cared for deeply. The Discovery of His Absence

In early June 1996, a postal worker noticed that Cavet had not been collecting his mail, prompting concern. Upon investigation, it was found that he was missing from his property.
