On July 14, 2019, Robert Joseph "Joey" Moran, a 47-year-old resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi, left his home around 10:00 a.m. He departed in a friend's silver 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, notably without his identification or cellphone. Dressed in a pink fishing shirt, khaki shorts, and socks—without shoes—his attire was unusual for someone purportedly heading to a hunting club, as his wife mentioned. Others present that morning reported he experienced a medical episode and exited the house through a bathroom window before driving away .
An Abandoned Vehicle Raises Questions
Two days later, on July 16, 2019, the Chevrolet Malibu was found abandoned near mile marker 8 on the westbound side of Interstate 10 in Hancock County, Mississippi. The car's hood was raised, suggesting mechanical issues, but no problems were identified upon inspection. Inside the vehicle, one of Moran's credit cards was discovered.
