A Quiet Life in Saint Maries

Dewey Dountain Shawver III, known affectionately as "Duke," was a 56-year-old resident of Saint Maries, Idaho. Standing at 5'10" and weighing approximately 250 pounds, he had graying brown hair and blue eyes. Duke was last seen on November 19, 2016, in his hometown. His final known communication was a text message sent to his wife from the Seattle, Washington area. Since that day, there has been no confirmed contact from him.

A Mysterious Disappearance

The deputy considered the caller reliable, leading to the case's closure.

Despite the case's closure, Dewey's family remained concerned due to the lack of direct contact. In June 2017, the Benewah County Sheriff's Office reopened the investigation after the deputy who received the initial call admitted he could not recall the caller's identity. This revelation raised questions about the validity of the information that led to the case's closure. ...Read More
