Vanished Without a Trace: The Unresolved Disappearance of Kayla Mason

A Young Mother’s Life Interrupted

Kayla Rose Mason, a 23-year-old biracial woman from Toledo, Ohio, was last seen on July 31, 2019. At the time, she lived with her grandparents, worked full-time, and was the mother of a four-year-old daughter. She had recently been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and she was not taking her bipolar medication.

The Night She Disappeared

On the night of her disappearance, Kayla left a note at her grandparents’ house stating that she was not good at saying goodbyes. She left behind most of her belongings, taking only an inactive cellphone, some clothing, a tent, and a few other personal items. She has not been heard from since.

A Delayed Investigation

Initially, police declined to classify her as missing, citing her status as an adult and the note suggesting she left voluntarily. However, in December 2019, Toledo police opened an investigation and officially listed her as a missing person.

Family's Ongoing Search
