On the evening of January 17, 2020, 23-year-old Veronica Reyes-Diaz, a devoted mother of three, planned a rare night out with friends in Dover, Florida. She arranged for her two older sons, ages 4 and 5, to stay with her sister in nearby Plant City, while her husband, Francisco, remained at home with their youngest child. After spending the evening dining with friends, Veronica returned home around 1:15 a.m. on January 18. She then picked up her older children, brought them home, and tucked them into bed. This was the last confirmed sighting of Veronica.
Francisco awoke around 6:30 a.m. to find Veronica missing. Her red Chevrolet Yukon was parked outside their home with the keys in the ignition and her purse and wallet inside. Her cell phone was missing, and calls to it went unanswered. Initially, Francisco was not alarmed, believing she might have gone out briefly. However, as hours turned into days without any word from Veronica, concern grew.
Veronica's family reported her missing on January 20, 2020. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation, but early leads were scarce. Surveillance footage confirmed Veronica's return home in the early hours of January 18. A neighbor's security camera captured someone leaving the house around 3:00 a.m., but the footage was too dark to identify the individual. Veronica's cell phone last pinged in the Dover area over the weekend before it was turned off or the battery died.
Veronica's family has been unwavering in their search for her. Her father, Fidencio Minjares, has expressed deep concern, stating that Veronica would never leave her children behind voluntarily. The family has organized searches, distributed flyers, and maintained a Facebook page to keep the public informed. They have also placed banners in the community, including one on State Road 60, to raise awareness about her disappearance....Read More
