Samuel Norris Campbell, affectionately known as "Sam," was a 34-year-old resident of Bethesda, Maryland, when he vanished without a trace on March 22, 1985. Born on September 7, 1950, Sam was a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 175 pounds. He was known to wear glasses with round wire frames and had a distinctive scar on his chin. On the day he disappeared, he was possibly dressed in a T-shirt under a flannel shirt, jeans or khaki-style pants, a belt, old-style "Keds" athletic shoes or leather comfort shoes, and a "Timex" watch. He may have been carrying a backpack.
Sam was last seen at his residence in the 5800 block of Grosvenor Lane in Bethesda. What makes his disappearance particularly perplexing is that all his personal belongings, including his vehicle, were left behind. There were no signs of forced entry or struggle, and no immediate indications of foul play. His sudden absence left family and friends bewildered and concerned.
The Montgomery County Police Department took on the case, but despite their efforts, leads were scarce. The lack of physical evidence or eyewitness accounts made the investigation challenging. Over the years, the case remained open, with authorities hoping that new information or advancements in forensic technology might shed light on Sam's whereabouts.
In the absence of concrete evidence, various theories have emerged regarding Sam's disappearance. Some speculate that he may have chosen to leave voluntarily, seeking a new life elsewhere. Others believe he may have met with foul play, perhaps targeted for reasons unknown. The possibility of an accident or medical emergency has also been considered. However, without definitive evidence, these remain mere speculations....Read More
