On January 7, 2016, 69-year-old Andrew Henry departed from Ruby, Alaska, embarking on a snowmachine trip to the nearby village of Galena. This route, familiar to many in the region, typically follows the Yukon River—a vital artery connecting remote communities. Clues Along the Frozen River

Search teams traced Henry's snowmachine tracks along the Yukon River. Approximately two miles upstream from the Yuki River, they discovered that the tracks veered into an open hole in the ice.
