A Routine Fishing Trip Turns Ominous

On the morning of June 16, 2023, 70-year-old Timothy Wilson Jr., a seasoned fisherman and respected member of the Kake, Alaska community, embarked on what was intended to be a routine fishing excursion near Pup Island. Known for his intimate knowledge of the local waters, Wilson's failure to return as expected that evening immediately raised concerns among his family and friends.

By 8:30 p.m. on June 16, Alaska State Troopers received a report of the overdue boater and promptly relayed the information to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Juneau.
