On August 21, 1989, 29-year-old Debbie Misquez Escalante attended a party at the intersection of 5th Street and West Picacho Avenue in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Later that night, she left with a male coworker and went to his apartment in the 700 block of West Las Cruces Avenue. Shortly thereafter, she reportedly left the apartment and ran in the direction of Pioneer Park. She has not been seen or heard from since.
Debbie was a Hispanic woman with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. She had several distinctive tattoos: a unicorn on her right shoulder, a rose on her right breast, and additional tattoos on her right hand and one of her fingers. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a gray t-shirt and gray pants. She may have been suffering from cellulitis on her left foot.
Despite the passage of time, Debbie's case remains unsolved. The circumstances of her disappearance are still unclear, and few details have emerged over the years. Her case is listed as "Endangered Missing" by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety. Anyone with information is urged to contact the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Missing Person Hotline at 1-800-457-3463.
The disappearance of Debbie Escalante has left a lasting impact on the Las Cruces community. Her case serves as a somber reminder of the importance of community involvement in missing persons cases. Public awareness and vigilance can play a crucial role in bringing closure to families and ensuring that such cases are not forgotten....Read More
