A Quiet Morning Turns Tragic
On the early morning of January 18, 2019, Turner Taber Jenkins, a 31-year-old man from Bainbridge Island, Washington, embarked on a kayaking trip with a friend in the Puget Sound. Their journey took them between Restoration Point and Blakely Rock, areas known for their natural beauty and challenging waters. During this pre-dawn excursion, their two-person kayak capsized. While Jenkins' friend managed to swim to shore and call for help, Jenkins never resurfaced. Despite extensive search efforts, he remains missing and is presumed to have drowned.
The Search and Rescue Efforts
