A Mission of Mercy Turns Tragic

On January 29, 2019, a Guardian Flight air ambulance departed Anchorage, Alaska, en route to the remote village of Kake to retrieve a patient in need of urgent medical care. Aboard the twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 200 were pilot Patrick Coyle, paramedic Margaret Langston, and flight nurse Stacie Rae Morse. At approximately 6:11 p.m., during its approach to Kake, the aircraft inexplicably veered off course and plummeted over 2,500 feet in just 14 seconds, crashing into the frigid waters of Frederick Sound. Despite extensive search efforts, the bodies of the three crew members were never recovered. 

Remembering Stacie Rae Morse

Stacie Rae Morse, 30, was a dedicated flight nurse based in Juneau, Alaska. Originally from Bellingham, Washington, she graduated from Squalicum High School in 2007 and earned her nursing degree from Whatcom Community College. She furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington and held certifications including CEN and CCRN. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a Nurse Practitioner's License. Stacie was passionate about her work, known for her advocacy, humor, and adventurous spirit.
