A Disappearance That Still Haunts Knoxville
On December 27, 2017, Brenda Kay Carroll, a 45-year-old woman from Knoxville, Tennessee, vanished under circumstances that continue to baffle investigators and torment her loved ones. She was last seen at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, accompanying her roommate, Bonnie Drane, who was visiting a family member. The two women departed the hospital together in Drane's silver 1998 Honda Accord. This was the last confirmed sighting of either woman.
A Troubling Pattern Emerges
Brenda Carroll's disappearance did not occur in isolation. She, Drane, and another associate, William Inklebarger, all vanished within days of each other. Inklebarger, 42, was last seen on December 29, 2017, at a motel on North Cherry Street. The trio shared a social circle and were known to have transient lifestyles, often staying together and lacking permanent residences. All three had histories of substance abuse, particularly involving opioids and crack cocaine.
