A Night of Innocence Turns Tragic
On the evening of May 11, 1978, 14-year-old Bertha Yvonne Gould and her 15-year-old friend Judy Ann Adams attended a school fair at the Central Catholic High School in Morgan City, Louisiana. As the fair concluded around 11:30 p.m., the two girls were seen walking home along Victor II Boulevard. A witness later reported seeing them enter a white car driven by an unidentified man. This was the last time anyone saw Bertha alive.
The Discovery That Shocked a Community
Two weeks later, on May 25, 1978, the body of Judy Adams was discovered in a septic tank in Bayou Vista, Louisiana. Alongside her was the body of 19-year-old Bridget Cantrell Sons, who had been abducted during a grocery store robbery in April of that year. Both victims had been bound and strangled.
