A Life Interrupted: Who Was Tracy Day?

Tracy Lynn Day, a 43-year-old Tlingit woman from Juneau, Alaska, was known for her warmth, generosity, and deep familial bonds. Despite battling bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use, Tracy remained a vibrant presence in her community, often offering help to those in need. Her family recalls her as someone who would literally give the coat off her back to someone cold. Tracy's life was a tapestry of resilience, love, and cultural pride.

The Day She Disappeared: February 14, 2019

On Valentine's Day 2019, Tracy visited her mother's home, arriving inappropriately dressed for the cold weather. Her family provided her with warmer clothing, including black snow pants, a turquoise hooded vest, a black hoodie, and blue rubber boots. Later that day, her twin sister, Angela Day-Nalan, dropped her off at the corner of Franklin Street and Ferry Way in downtown Juneau.
