Timothy Scott Parry, affectionately known as Tim, was a 19-year-old resident of Cedar City, Utah, when he vanished without a trace in July 1989. Born on March 9, 1970, Tim was a young man living with multiple complex medical conditions that made him especially vulnerable. He suffered from epilepsy, brain damage, Angelman Syndrome—a rare neurogenetic disorder sometimes referred to as "happy puppet syndrome"—and porphyria, a condition that causes severe sensitivity to sunlight. These health challenges required constant care and made his disappearance all the more alarming.
Tim stood approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed around 100 pounds. He had dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and distinctive physical features, including burn scars on the palms of both hands, a possible birthmark on his inner thigh, and peeling skin beneath his eyes. His brow ridge was notably prominent, and when frightened, he was known to scream and shake his hands—behaviors consistent with his neurological conditions.
On July 17, 1989, Tim walked away from his home in Cedar City and was never seen again. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and despite extensive efforts by local authorities and his family, no substantial leads have emerged. The Iron County Sheriff's Office has been the primary agency investigating his case, but over three decades later, it remains unsolved.
Tim's medical conditions added a layer of urgency to the search efforts. His epilepsy and brain damage affected his balance and cognitive functions, making it unlikely that he could have survived long without assistance. Angelman Syndrome contributed to developmental delays and a generally happy demeanor, but also meant he required specialized care. His porphyria made exposure to sunlight dangerous, and he was allergic to most medications, further complicating any potential survival without medical supervision. ...Read More
