A Young Life Interrupted
Roberta Jean Raines, a 19-year-old Native American woman, was last seen on July 10, 2001, in Toppenish, Washington. Standing between 5'1" and 5'3" and weighing approximately 120 pounds, Roberta had black hair and brown eyes. Her sudden disappearance left her family and community searching for answers, but despite the passage of time, her case remains unresolved.
The Last Known Companion
At the time of her disappearance, Roberta was in the company of Jose Merced Zamora. In 2002, Zamora was involved in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Yakima County. Following the incident, he fled to Mexico. When Zamora was later arrested in Idaho in 2007, he told authorities that Roberta had accompanied him to Mexico but left him while they were there.
