A Quiet Life in the Alaskan Wilderness

Leetus Lorenzo George was born on February 28, 1942, in Kamiah, Idaho. By 2003, he had made his home in Hope, a small, remote town nestled along the Turnagain Arm of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. At 61 years old, George was known for his rugged independence and love of the outdoors. He stood 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighed approximately 180 pounds, and had brown hair and blue eyes. On the day he vanished, he was reportedly wearing brown chest waders, suggesting he may have been engaged in fishing or another water-related activity.

The Day He Disappeared

On July 21, 2003, George was last seen near Six Mile Creek, a fast-moving tributary known for its treacherous rapids and popularity among whitewater rafters and kayakers.
