A Young Life Interrupted
On October 1, 1981, 18-year-old Richard Raymond Omelak departed from his residence on Laurene Street in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was never seen again. Standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, Richard was of American Indian/Alaska Native descent, with brown hair and brown eyes. Known to some by the nicknames "Ricky" or "Ricki," his sudden disappearance left a void in the community and a mystery that remains unsolved to this day.
The Initial Investigation
Following Richard's disappearance, local authorities initiated an investigation, but details about the early stages are scarce. The lack of immediate leads and the passage of time have contributed to the case remaining open.
