A Routine Errand That Ended in Mystery
On the morning of September 5, 2018, 69-year-old Jose “Pepe” Pereda Alarcon embarked on what should have been a simple trip to the Sand Draw Landfill, located just south of Riverton, Wyoming. Driving his white 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, Pereda was last seen around 11:30 a.m. heading south on South Federal Boulevard. He wore a gray and black long-sleeved flannel shirt and black pants. Despite the routine nature of his errand, Pereda never arrived at the landfill, and he has not been seen or heard from since.
Health Concerns Heighten the Urgency
Pereda's disappearance was particularly alarming due to his medical conditions. He was a diabetic and suffered from memory loss, which could lead to confusion or disorientation. These health issues raised concerns that he might have become lost or incapacitated during his trip.
