On March 14, 2020, 57-year-old Toney L. Bishop was last seen by family members on Utah Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Known affectionately by his nickname "Shakey," Bishop was a familiar figure in the community. Standing between 6'0" and 6'1" tall and weighing approximately 145 to 150 pounds, he was described as an African-American man with gray hair, brown eyes, and a thick mustache. He wore eyeglasses and was known to suffer from depression.
Between March 27 and March 30, family members became increasingly concerned when they were unable to reach Bishop by phone. On March 30, the Pine Bluff Police Department conducted a welfare check at his residence. Officers found the home empty, and notably, the front door was off its hinges. A neighbor reported possibly seeing Bishop being picked up by someone in a white pickup truck around that time. Another neighbor claimed to have seen him at the house later that same day after the police had left. Despite these accounts, Bishop was not reported missing until June 2020.
Bishop was known to frequent the towns of Altheimer and Sherrill in Arkansas, areas where he had grown up. He was also a patient at a hospital in Little Rock. His medical history included depression, which may have contributed to his disappearance. Despite his regular visits to these towns, there were no confirmed sightings of him in these areas after March 2020.
The Pine Bluff Police Department has continued to seek information from the public regarding Bishop's whereabouts. They have urged anyone with information to contact the detective office at 870-730-2090 or the dispatch center at 870-541-5300. Despite these efforts, few details have emerged, and the case remains unresolved. ...Read More
