A Young Life Lost at Sea
Olen Seth Nash, a 20-year-old fisherman from Haines, Alaska, vanished on November 9, 1999, when the fishing vessel Becca Dawn sank near Port Chatham in the Gulf of Alaska. The 52-foot steel longline halibut fishing vessel encountered rough weather, leading to its capsizing. Three of the four crew members were rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and taken to Yakutat. Tragically, Olen Nash was lost at sea and is presumed dead.
The Search and Aftermath
