A Quiet Life in Lewiston

Richard Wayne Vollstedt Sr. was a 67-year-old resident of Lewiston, Idaho, when he vanished without a trace on July 1, 1994. Standing at 5'11" and weighing 170 pounds, Richard was a Caucasian male with gray hair and hazel eyes. He had distinctive tattoos on both arms, a scar on his knee from a previous fracture, and was missing his prostate. Known to sometimes sport a full beard, he also had a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Richard was known to use the aliases Ford Radek and Ford Wayne Radek Sr.

The Day He Disappeared

On the day of his disappearance, Richard left his home in Lewiston, Idaho. Shortly thereafter, his 1994 Mercury Cougar was found abandoned in the Hells Canyon area of Idaho. There was no sign of Richard at the scene, and no clues as to his whereabouts. The location of his abandoned vehicle raised immediate concerns, given the remote and rugged terrain of Hells Canyon.

The Investigation Begins

The Lewiston Police Department initiated an investigation into Richard's disappearance. Despite their efforts, no substantial leads emerged. The lack of evidence at the scene where his car was found left investigators with little to go on. Richard's case was classified as "Endangered Missing," reflecting the concern for his well-being and the mysterious circumstances of his disappearance.

Theories and Speculations

Over the years, various theories have been proposed regarding Richard's disappearance. Some speculate that he may have chosen to disappear voluntarily, given his use of aliases. Others consider the possibility of foul play, especially considering the remote location where his car was found. However, without concrete evidence, these remain mere speculations. ...Read More
